From everyone here at WebIS – we wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! This is the time we set aside to spend time with our families and friends. Today I started at 7:30am doing my roasted vegetables (sweet potato, two kinds of regular potato, carrots, celery, onions – with olive oil, rosemary, salt, pepper, and a few dashes of balsamic vinegar) while my wife started last night on the turkey brining it. Later today we’re going over to the in-laws house to eat “Lunner” (Lunch/Dinner).
My sister lives in Oklahoma (for now) so she’s going to her in-laws for Thanksgiving; she was with us last year. My dad is at home in Houston while my mom is visiting her mom in Croatia as she’s in her late 80s and recently fell and broke some ribs. I asked my dad over for Thanksgiving, but he’s got production to run tomorrow so couldn’t make it 🙁 I’d love to have both families together, but it wasn’t to be this year.
So what are we thankful for this year?
I myself am thankful for God’s grace, a healthy family, my son in college, my sister and her family moving to Houston to be with my parents, and frankly – to be in this business for yet another year.
Chris is thankful – in his words: “ok…so I’d have to say I’m thankful for coffee, wine….and Benjamin Franklin (that whole electricity discovery has turned out to be pretty great). And Laurie – the most amazing wife, mother and Thanksgiving chef I’ve ever met (to be fair, I am a little biased). My two girls – I can’t love them enough. My God who spared nothing to save me. And finally Alex…for real – incredible friend…and providing me with the best job ever.”
Wes is thankful – in his words: “Too many things to count them all. Thankful for food to eat, a safe home, good friends, a solid church, healthy kids, a loving wife, a job I love, Gods mercy and my salvation.”
I realize that Thanksgiving is very much a US Holiday, but even so I wish everyone some time to re-connect with your families and rest and recharge. I’ll be taking the opportunity to write up some thoughts on our status and future coming up soon!
I’m thankful for so many things – my wife who loves me, my decent health, my wonderful friends far and near…I hope I can give something back with my life.
Cheers Alex, and thanks for all the inspired hard work and dedication 🙂
Wow! I join you in being thankful for God’s grace and salvation! Thanks for sharing!
Many years ago, I had a Dell Axim. I loved it particularly because it organized me as I was a new Petsitter business owner. I was organized because I had Pocket Informant which I thought (and think) was the coolest scheduler/organizer around. I loved the repeat funnctions so I could put in dog walks/cat watches on succesive days or every other day or WHATEVER! Another cool feature which tickeled my tech fancy was to put in someoes weddding date and then get yearly updates on the year of their anniversary. I would say it’s your 17th wedding anniversay and I felt smug and ever so cool. When Iphone came out I looked for Informant and couldn’t find it. I now have had it for years.
I probably am onloy 30-40% aware of everything it does and I still Love it. I really like your heartfelt thanksgiving note…it’s real and kind and reflects a great son and husband and dad and business owner. Maybe this is corny, but in a word,I am so grateful for the wonderful organizing help that made me love and excel at my Petsitting busisness for 12 years in Sandy Hookl! PS . Organization has never been my long suit so I am deeply grateful to you. When I saw your post today, it brought back memories of my little dell Axim and how Informant made everything right (AND EASY) Be wll ecellent Alex. Truly, Gene
