If you have been following the previous posts you will know that we have spent a good deal of time on this 5.03 release and have put it through 3 separate beta iterations.
Available in iTunes as of: Feb 27, 2017
Here is what is included in Informant 5 for iOS 5.03
- Fixed issues where quotes in some localization appeared as "
- TestFlight beta users *should* now get at least 1 month after subscribing
- When converting PI4 templates to triggers, sub tasks and checklist items on those templates are reliably imported now
- When converting PI4 templates to triggers, it now prefers to use the Informant Sync Inbox than the local one (if applicable)
- When force-touching on an Apple Calendar Event row and changing the start date, the change was not saved
- When force-touching on a task and removing the start date, the due date was also being removed
- Agenda view would ignore its filter after there was a data update
- The Month Detail View would start showing a bunch of tasks that didn’t belong if you were looking at “today” and there was a data update
- Fixed a crash that would occur if you were in the task editor, chose to pick a parent, started filtering the list and then tapped on one of the results
- Task completion buttons shouldn’t be visible in the “pick parent” or “pick child” lists
- Visual improvements to Table View rows (throughout the app) when selecting them
- Fixed crash when selecting an empty contact group
- Fixed several issues (and a crash) when setting up or changing the settings of an Evernote Sync account
- Potentially fixed a rare crash that could occur during “Erase local and sync”
- Images embedded into local notes or notes synced with Informant Sync would go missing
- Applying a trigger that contained subtasks to a reminder could crash
- Lots of improvement to search view
- Fixed crash that could occur when tapping on recurring event in search results
- Fixed crash that could occur when contacts appeared in search results
- Tapping on a search result now shows you the summary popover instead of taking you to the editor (to be more consistent with how all other views work)
- Tapping on a Birthday Event in search results now shows the contact record for that person
- Search results better handle the situation when there’s a data change while search results are showing
- The search results list should be a lot less “refreshy / jumpy”
- Events in search results are now in chronological order (it was previously sorting All Day events to the top, then starting over with timed events)
- Search results now automatically scroll to the closest event to “today” after they are done loading
- Numerous improvements to the Today Widget
- Tapping weather and the ‘+’ button no longer take you to PI4 if it’s installed
- Numerous stability improvements
- Numerous internal improvements to sizing, redraw, etc
- When collapsing the widget, we now change back to “Today” instead of leaving you on the selected day (this makes more sense because the week row disappears in collapsed mode)
- The widget would not reliably show you the “More…” indicator if there was too much data to fit within the widget
- Informant 5 can now be targeted directly by using the URL scheme informant5:// (this ensures I5 will open instead of PI4 if you have both installed)
- Force touch on the view picker button now takes you to Focus View
- Logging into an Evernote sync account would loop you back to PI4 if it was installed
- Rotating your device to landscape would hang / crash Informant if you were in the Month Detail View
- Fixed issue where sometimes restoring a backup wouldn’t work as expected
- Backing up settings works as expected again
- The notes editor would shrink if you rotated back/forth on a Plus-sized phone
- The notes editor would shrink to make room for the keyboard even when you weren’t using the on-screen keyboard (i.e. when you use an external keyboard). It also didn’t completely handle the “split keyboard” on iPad very well.
- Plus-sized iPhones were very inconsistent about how they presented the event & task editor while in landscape (sometimes it was full screen, sometimes it was presented as a “page”)
- Fixed issue with saving the change to “Project Type” in the project editor
- Fixed issue where notes cells would appear blank if you set your Task Row mode to Background Color
- Plus, these fixes were done as part of M9, and 5.03 beta 2 is inheriting them:
- Fixed issue where a default task due date setting of “Next Friday” would really apply “Next Thursday“
- Fixed issue where creating a new Reminder list/project within Informant might not create it in the Apple Reminders App
- Fixed crash when applying a template that contained a location in both the event and task editors
- New Next Action logic:
- Parent / child tasks are treated more like “sub-projects” now. If you set a parent task to “Active”, then the first subtask will become the Next Action.
- This means you can now have multiple next actions within a given project (the first task in the project along with the first subtask of each “active” parent task)
- During automatic Next Action promotion, if the first task in a project is a parent task, it will now set that parent task to Active and the first subtask will become the Next Action
- Next action promotion now stops if it hits a task that is in the Hold or Planning status
- NEW: View Picker buttons can now be customized with a new setting (Settings -> View Settings -> Enable Views)
- The Time Picker better handles setting times in other time zones (before it would be inconsistent when what it showed in the picker wheel vs what was displayed in the editor’s date/time row)
- In the editor, selecting a calendar that is locked to a time zone now properly sets the time zone of the date/time pickers
- Sometimes selecting a saved filter wouldn’t properly apply the filter
- Hitting the “Today” button in the column week view would always put “Today” in the first column regardless of your “First day of week” setting
- Column week view would not automatically redraw itself when you changed the First Day of Week setting
- The App Badge was not always being set correctly for “today” (sometimes it would get set to “tomorrow’s” value)
- Fixed issue where you might sometimes see “ghost” duplicate events when editing a repeating event on the Agenda View
- Fixed issue when completing a checklist item on the Agenda View where all checklist items would disappear until you collapsed/re-expanded the checklist
- The “Move Calendar Data” button was broken in the calendar editor
- Sometimes time zone labels could be incorrectly displayed / overlapping on an event row
- Address various minor UI issues
- Fixed regression in last beta where you would crash in the event editor when changing between an Apple Calendar and a non-Apple Calendar
- Fixed regression in last beta where time labels might disappear on event rows
- Several improvements to our alarm handling (about a dozen fixes). This includes fixing issues where alarms might intermittently not fire, you might intermittently get duplicate alarms, alarms might fire for completed/deleted tasks, etc.
- Several fixes to how our event/task editor handles locations (including fixes to some crashes that could occur while editing locations)
- The editor would get into a bad state if you tapped on an alarm row while the date picker was expanded
- The year wheel of the date picker now works correctly for the Buddhist Era calendar
- Fixed unexpected results that could occur in the date picker when toggling the All Day flag. Also, when you turn off All Day, we now pick a more “friendly” time
- More complete fix to picking items from our “type ahead” list controller in the event and task editors (like tags, contexts, etc)
- Reminders should not show up as possible child tasks in the task editor
- Fixed issue when applying a task trigger that contained a project that was on a sync service
- When you apply a trigger to an all day event and the trigger defines a start time, we now automatically turn the All Day switch off
- If you applied a trigger that contained a title to an event that already had a title, you would get unexpected results
- When using time bar mode for month cells, the task count was too light in Light Mode
- FC Priority editor had black text on black background when in dark mode
- Notes Cells sometimes had black text on a black background in Dark Mode
- Improved readability of the time zone label on event rows in dark mode
- Added warning to the settings to let users know that the Apple Event Editor isn’t supported in Dark Mode
- Fixed regression in I5 where Birthday Events didn’t show the contact image like they did in PI4
- Fixed regression in I5 where title autocomplete wouldn’t suggest a contact unless they had an address
- Fixed regression in I5 when printing – events might show on the wrong day
- Fixed regression in I5 when printing the Display Summary View of a checklist might print white text
- Improved the experience when picking a contact from the title field autocomplete suggestions in the event/task editor
- When you Get Snippets from TextExpander, it no longer loops back to PI4
- Fixed issue where Informant Home didn’t respect an event’s calendar time zone
- Fixed issue where the “done” button was hard to hit during speech recognition
- Fixed issue where sometimes the view picker button would disappear after speech recognition
- Fixed issue where coming out of speech recognition, the View Picker Button appeared “half-dimmed”
- A few other stability improvements
I’m guessing Apple won’t release update on weekend, True?
“Release was rejected by apple to add additional details about subscription”. Wonder if got wind of the “subscribe and cancel” advice or responded to the comments of frustrated long time users/supporters?
The rejection was actually based on the Apple reviewers “subjective” interpretation of a particular guideline that wanted the privacy policy” and general subscription info in the description” AND in the app. For all previous submissions (which have all been approved), we had it in the description only… So from our perspective, it was a very nit-picky thing, (and annoying)…
The long wait for the fixes was absolute torture, not to mention the hope for the 5.1 to rectify the UX and UI. Keith, the version 5.1 needs to roll out asap, its getting really frustrating to wait for the app to work while already paid for what you and Alex lure us to believe in. Get that 5.1 out in mid March!!!
Takeaction,
5.03 has over 100 fixes in it. It is big progress. It may not solve everything, but it should definitely make the app more usable for the people experiences crashes/etc. The date picker fixes are much more involved and take more time, the watch0 same. We have introduced some minor view picker enhancements in 5.03 (ability to hide some unwanted views), and more are coming in 5.03.
It is never fast enough for us either… But, we are making good progress everyday.
Mid-March would be nice, we might have some beta releases mid march but our internal drop dead date for release to apple (at least as of right now is April 6th) Hopefully we can beat that. Dates are always tough in development because you never really know what kind of issues you are going to face until you face them. Over time you realize that your expectations are usually “optimistic” and things always take longer than we would like, but that is part of the deal. Most developers I know really, really, really, really (I can’t say enough “reallys” on that part)…really hate to make external commitments because most people just don’t understand the complexities involved. Truth is, most companies that publish external dates either pad the dates so much that they are easy to hit, or they end up reducing the scope/ or sacrificing the project quality just to hit the date. Sometime devs don’t announce a date until the app is actually done, then they just are polishing up the marketing materials until the actual launch date…. In the case of 5.1 we are actively working on it, we have a big list of stuff to include, and we are going into this with the objective of “5.1 will be bullet-proof” to critics. So that means watchOS, view picker, date picker, bugs etc…. If we can get it “bullet-proof” and take an extra 1-2 weeks we will do it. If we get to April 6th and we are still missing some things, we may look at trimming the scope so we can get it out the door in time to have a fix for the changes to the Google Sync OAuth that will cause problems for many folks if we don’t have the fix out. Pricing & more/better subscription & free trial options are another thing that is on our list, but it is secondary to the “bullet-proof” objective I’ve mentioned here. Our #1 priority is making the app as good as possible for anyone who has already invested $25 in to it, and those who will in the near future. I hope that all makes sense…
Thanks for your comments,
I am very anxious to find out if syncing google tasks works with 5.03! (couldn’t find anything in the list of fixes)
boydston01,
Could you elaborate a bit more about your google task sync problem. Did you create a ticket w/ support. Did they verify it was not working? I am sorry if this sounds like a stupid question on my part, I am just not aware (off the top of my mind) that it was not working…and I don’t recall seeing it in the release notes. I will ping our internal support/product channel and see if other members of support or Chris (lead dev) are aware of the issue. For the record…It definately SHOULD be working & if it is not, I would be surprised if we don’t fix it asap.
Side note question: How/why do you use google tasks? are you using them from your browser or from another app? What purpose do they serve for you specifically. (I personally have always found google tasks so annoying, so I don’t use them. But that is just me. I really do want to understand your scenario better)
Boydston1. I also have raised this issue and raised a ‘ticket’, spent several hours in heated discussions only to find out that unless you subscribe, Syncing with Google calendar will NEVER work in V5. According to support, this has been targeted as a revenue raiser for much needed funds to continue development. We all understand that companies need money to survive but the latest philosophy is so close to extortion! Removing functionality to force people to subscribe to a product that was previously included when you paid for it once before…….??????…if it QUACKS like a duck…….. Not a happy camper…STILL!
Info127,
I don’t know why you would say we “removed a feature” from Informant 5 to extort revenue. Informant 5 is a brand new product. No one that paid for Informant 5 would not have access to any of the syncing features. If you paid for Informant 4.94 (or I5) and sync stopped working, then please submit a case and we owe you a fix. If you are just upset because your “Free” version of Informant 5 doesn’t have a feature that you want, then I would kindly ask you to support the ongoing development of this product by paying for it.
I don’t think there is any extortion here.
Keith: Informant does not sync the specific edit when the due date is removed from Informant–that singular change does not sync from Inf to google (everything else continues to sync fine both ways–even the due date will sync if added from Inf or edited from google). Yes, I created a ticket as soon as 5.02 came out. It must have gotten lost but I already created a new ticket just yesterday and support verified the behavior. Definitely looking forward to it working!
The primary reason for needing google tasks is to see my tasks integrated with my google calendar on Mac and Windows. I don’t actually use them yet, though–because, as you said, google tasks are annoying. That’s where Informant comes in. It brings the “real” UI and filter/sort functionality. In the browser in google calendar, I would mostly only manage those tasks that are directly related to calendar items (eg Task XYZ needs to be done the day before Appointment CBD in four weeks). I would also manage a specific “Today” list of tasks in the browser for the ability to reorder by drag and drop. Additionally, I would sync to gTasks on iOS for the drag and drop ordering of my “today” list (“today” list is actually a rarely used task list, the name is a misnomer).
Hopefully, Mac Informant will also work for managing google tasks with filtering/sorting and integrated with calendars (in lieu of the browser). But Mac Inf also has the same syncing problem (I’ve tried to report it a few times). Informant tasks will not work because I need tasks on windows too. When Mac and iOS Informant are both rock solid, I might ditch google tasks and sync with Toodledo–but Informant would need to be extremely reliable, fast, zero glitches, etc., for me to rely on it as my primary work environment.
boydston01,
I did verify the g-tasks issue you mentioned. I see that it is added to the fix list for 5.1. Thanks for making us aware.
Have you tried Informant for Mac? I think it will help you with the “mac” access you mentioned above. As for windows, it will be a bit longer before we have our own solution there, but we are working on getting closer.
Keith: I’ve been excited about mac informant for a long time—purchased and have been testing it since june 2015. For me, it’s still far from prime time—overall—and for google tasks, it suffers the exact same syncing issue ios informant does.
Keith, I for one can imagine the huge number of code lines you have to deal with. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a single OS version and platform to support? Many many thanks to you and your team for all the hard work. Looking forward to 2.0.3.
jnotz,
That was one of the major initiatives with the Informant 5 release. We wanted to simplify the maintenance of the code etc. We have done that with Informant 5 and Informant for MacOS. Much of the code base is shared and maintenance will be much easier moving forward. Informant 5 really is a new app from the ground up, and hence, there have a been a few issues. However, we are (and have) fixed many of them in 5.01, 5.02, and now 5.03. The upcoming 5.1 should get many of the remaining ones. We are excited for the future as well.
Thank you for being part of the community.
Sorry, 5.0.3.
Yay on the Template -> Trigger. I have been running PI4 side-by-side with Informant 5 because I love templates and didn’t want to give them up. Once all the info transfers from a Template to a Trigger, then adios PI4.
Thank you for all the hard work. I love both PI4 and Informant 5 and would happily use either one. I can’t imagine using anything else. I’ve tried everything else, but nothing else makes sense to me. Informant is clean, simple, yet does so much as far as ‘planner’ apps go.
Good luck with Apple!
Leigh,
Thanks for the kind words. We know that we missed the mark on a few things with the initial launch of Informant 5 but we are working very hard to get them all cleaned up. We do appreciate your kind words. Perhaps you could give us a review in the app store when you feel we are back at the 5 star level. We have too many (than we want) lower reviews right now, mainly from long time users who were disappointed about a particular feature that we (to quote them) “messed up” in Informant 5. I think it will be valuable to other users to hear your comments about what you liked in PI4 and what you like about I5, especially once you feel like we are back to the 5-star level that loyal long time customers have come to expect from us.
All the best to you,
Begging isn’t a distinguished position. Your ratings are based on the whole package. They’re only as high as they are because zero stars are not an option. I’ve seen blame placed elsewhere and modifiers excusing failure here ad nauseum. Take a trip through various apps. You’ll see, people DO reward solid apps with solid ratings.
When you get your ‘stuff’ in one sock, you should call it “Informant 6”. You’ll never recover as 5!
I agree.
Keith appears to have blinders on and his only focus is getting to the “5 star level”. Even PI4, a very functional App, never achieved a 5 star rating. The AppStore ratings for PI4 have suffered because of the I5 debacle. But, Fanatic probably does not care, since according to Keith PI4 is now a legacy app and Fanatic’s goal is to “push” users to I5.
So I’m still a little confused as to what “improvements” we can expect in the time picker. PI5 has gone back to “spinning wheels,” giving up one of the main reasons I went to PI in the first place (years ago). I might as well just use Apple’s (free) calendar! The time picker in PI4 isn’t perfect, but it’s a LOT better than chasing spinning wheels. Jeez, I feel like a hamster whenever I try to set the time. It’s so much easier just going click-click-click on a number pad – removes the guesswork. I have submitted suggestions for improvements that should be EASY to incorporate into the PI4 picker. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t go backwards and use the stupid spinning wheels. Sadly, it looks like I am going to have to shop for a new app.
srecker,
You can see a discussion on our plans for the date/time picker here: http://staging.pocketinformant.com/state-informant-part-2/
In this post, Chris discusses a few ideas and we even have a screen mockup.
Please let us know your thoughts. The date/time picker was a big change, there were some very good reasons behind it, but ultimately it has been the biggest complaint about I5, so we are making some changes.
Hang in there with us… We will get it resolved. Unfortunately, the date/time picker is pretty deep in the code and it takes quite a bit of work to replace it, hence the timing.
We are planning on having the Date/Time picker fixed in the 5.1 release, which is anticipated for April.
Hi Srecker – it is not “easy” to incorporate the PI 4 time picker. Its actually a considerable amount of work. That said, PI 5.1 is what we’ve scheduled to include improvements to the date/time picker. PI 5.0x were focused on the high priority work of bug fixing.
Thanks for delivered over hundred of fixes in v5.03. Appreciated the team effort to make it better. Not so sure about Keith’s saying on his “bullet-proof” objective for v.5.1, I am skeptical about such message. We don’t see many mock up or design concept on the date/time picker yet, so “bullet-proof to critics” should be challenging. Expectation management is very important in current situation. Just some feedback on the current version for your consideration; “View Picker and its jumpy animation” is counter-productive / counter-intuitive, seems just to showoff the fancy animation capability. The new “3D Touch” approach to launch that “disc of options” for a task makes that action from effortless to applying effort everytime (previous PI4 swipping approach is effortless and more intuitive). “Time/Date Picker” has got so many roar from your customers, so I think you get the point already. Hope a few voice of customer can help to reduce some critics to achieve your bullet-proof objective. Thanks Keith. Keep up the good work.
Takeaction,
I appreciate your comments. I occasionally tend to speak with an aspiration tone and metaphor. I am sure my comments can be mistaken sometimes. I just hope that no one actually tries to fire a bullet at me after Informant 5.1 launches… (Although it is quite possible based on some of the reactions I’ve stirred up.)
I’ve done the update – Is there a way to force Informant 5 to open to a specific screen? 90% of the time I’m in Focus View but each time I open it’s taking me to Month View (which I only use 1% of the time).
As an FYI – I have an iPhone 6 so Force Touch doesn’t work for me as a shortcut, and I know I can keep Informant open in the background, but there are times when I close it for one reason or another, and when I do I don’t want to have to “click” twice to get to the screen I want.
Also, is there any update on whether a manual will be available? That would help a lot in these cases where people are trying to figure out how to do something, when they aren’t even sure if it can be done (which means we’re just wasting time in our productivity app).
Thanks
ok – so I’ve played with this a bit and I definitely agree there is an issue here…the intention is that Informant always re-opens to the last view that it was on…but I can create situations where it doesn’t always reliably open back up to the last view if Informant fully quits. So, I have filed a bug to fix that. I think this will largely solve the issue for you if you mostly live on Focus view and we reliably re-open to the last view you were on every time you leave Informant.
We have had the request from time to time to have a setting where you can make Informant always re-open to a specific screen. Pinning down the “right” way to handle that is a little tricky (though, I do have a thought that might be worth pursuing). I don’t love the idea of a setting that is based on what Informant should do if it “fully quits” (as opposed to being suspended). Unlike a desktop machine, people generally don’t intentionally “quit” apps (and in general there’s not a need to unless an app is misbehaving). iOS intentionally blurs the line between an app being backgrounded and quit…behind the scenes, iOS will choose to quit suspended apps if the foreground app needs more memory, etc…and Apple’s guidelines are that we should keep that line blurry by always trying to resume where the user leaves off regardless of if the app is resuming from the background or if it’s a cold launch.
We certainly wouldn’t want Informant to switch views everything it’s backgrounded either…imagine you are on Month view, you hit the home button, then immediately go right back into Informant and now it’s on a totally different view than it was 2 seconds ago.
That said, I have thought of implementing a setting that says Informant should switch to a specific view after X minutes. So, for instance, perhaps we say it should open up to Focus view if it has been in the background (regardless of it being suspended or fully quit) for more than 5 minutes. Thoughts?
First, I’d like to say I really appreciate how you explain things Chris. The way you explain is the way my brain likes to learn so I’m always happy to see you weigh in on topics (although I do understand that you have a job to do and it’s not this).
Anyways, if it’s supposed to open to my last used screen and this is just a bug, then I’m happy with that. It doesn’t have to be customizable for my purposes, although I can see where that might be helpful to some people. For example if they spent most of their time in the Focus View, but always wanted to start their day in the Weekly View, or if they always end their day by reviewing their Agenda, but want to start the day in their Task View.
Bug: Tasks Completed Today
In Focus view these only show for Today
Bug:Widget
Quite often this errors to ‘Unable to load’
Improvement: Triggers
Only by hunch did I realise that a trigger string needs a concluding comma.
There needs to be an on screen hint IMO
julian,
I do agree.
Bug: Tasks – Completed items
Swipe an item and choose the red delete icon and it is not deleted
Sorry I didn’t want to say this but 5.03 has 5.00 bugs
Bug: Home screen
I have an event at 14:00 this afternoon that is not appearing. My next event, tomorrow 9:00 is appearing
It is current 09:25
I think that you will get a faster response if you.submit your bug list (looks like your iPhone has an epidemic!) in a support request.
Hi Julian
Thanks for the feedback. I’ll do my best to address what I can here, but in general bug reports are best handled through support so that we get them escalated, tracked and assigned to a release.
You’re the first to report an issue with the Completed Tasks section on Focus view and it looks like I can reproduce it, so I’ll definitely look into that for our next update.
On the widget – we did resolve a few ways you could hit the “Unable to load” message in 5.03, but it’s still possible to hit this intermittently. We’re continuing to work on it – it’s tricky to nail down because the issue is highly intermittent without a clear set of data/steps to reproduce it…plus you don’t get any crash reports from a widget, so it’s impossible to track that way either. We’ll definitely keep working on it till it’s rock solid.
Trigger Improvement – I assume you are talking about when you are creating a trigger and entering different keywords, is that right? In that field, you can hit either “return” or a comma to separate keywords. That’s fair that we should document that better.
I can’t reproduce the issue with deleting a completed item – I’ve tried on multiple views and different areas. Please file a ticket with support and indicate which view you’re on and if it’s 100% reproducible for you or it only occurs sometimes.
The Home Screen behavior you are describing actually isn’t a bug, but admittedly, the intended behavior isn’t obvious. When Alex created the “next event” feature on the home screen, his vision was that it would take the place of the “ETA” row that used to exist on the Focus View in PI4. Thus, the Home Screen isn’t necessarily showing the “very next event”, it’s showing the next event *that has a location* so that it can give you an ETA to that event. This logic made sense when it only controlled the ETA row on the Focus view, but it’s less clear what is happening now that it is on the Home Screen. We have several tickets filed on the home screen that will address this (from adding a setting, to moving ETA back to Focus view, to optionally not showing the home screen at all).
Hope that helps. Thanks again for the feedback!
Hi Chris,
Thank you for your prompt and comprehensive reply. All points noted.
Best regards
regarding the option to not display the Home screen, will it still function as it does now where all views are accessed by tapping the bottom right button first (I.e. 2 taps), but the view buttons will just be displayed on top of the view you are currently in? Also, do you have any plans to allow users to configure what buttons are always present in the bottom menu bar (e.g. replace the go to today button with the focus view button)?
Scott,
Chris will have to comment on the exact specifics of if the today screen shows up or now. I know he has considered a few ideas.
However, as of 5.03 (available in App Store now) you CAN configure which buttons show up.
Hi Chris,
I presume you have internally-raised tickets for these bugs? i.e. I don’t need to do them.
Bug Fix Promised but not Delivered.
Twice I have flagged up a bug with the ‘Contacts’ Section where the index on the right of the screen is not in alphabetical order. On both occassions I was told that it would be fixed in V5.03. That has not happened. I appreciate that you guys have your hands full at the moment, however if you say you are going to do something tehn you should do it.
Regards
Marc
Marc,
You are correct. That is a bug. And it STILL is a bug. I will make sure that gets on Chris’ list for 5.1.
The critical success factor for PI5.1 is to allow a “single” tap to access/toggle between “Task View” and “Calendar View”. This is a paramount functionality to stay as a good productivity tool. Most of the time, we need to quickly access either “task list” or “calendar”, if it took us 2 taps to complete this action, it is counter-productive and stupid. There are plenty of space at the bottom of the screen to set the “Task View” button. PI4 bottom bar is a very good example of effectiveness. I can toggle two views with a single hand holding the phone. Please ensure PI5 implement this critical success factor. Appreciated.
Noted.
I do think that it is worth noting also that in many leading “UX design circles”, the “number of clicks” factor is not the #1 priority for many UX designers anymore. Many are more interested in the overall experience and the logical nature of how things are laid out. For example, a UX designer would argue that putting too many buttons on the screen would make the experience worse, even though it makes more features have fewer clicks….
Now, don’t worry. We have people advocating both perspectives internally. So I think we will find a good solution.
Good news is… I think Chris agrees with you & he is the final decision maker.
1) There’s five buttons at the bottom of the screen, with room for one more.
2) User choice of buttons to show at bottom. (More user customisability is needed across the board as is.)
3) A calendar/task based product 🤔
It seems like there are options. But I’m sure I can and will be corrected.
Oh, come on, Tab, stop making sense, you know that’s not appreciated around here!
Explains why I5.03’s AppStore rating has sunk to 2 stars.
Wake up & listen to the music. It sounds like a dirge!
