One of the most requested features for Pocket Informant for many years has been a web browser version. Today we announce our plans to make this web version available to Informant Sync subscribers.
For the past few months we have been working with a select group of beta users to pilot a new web-based version of Informant. Today, we are ready to open up this beta to even more users.
Who is invited to this beta?
This beta is currently only available for members with an active Informant Sync account. If you do not have an Informant Sync account you can request a 2-week free trial here. If your Informant Sync subscription has expired, reach out to support and we can grant one additional 2-week free trial.
How to Get Access to Informant Sync for Web:
(For active Informant Sync members)
- Request beta access: Once that is filled out, there will be a confirmation popup that has the link to the beta site. Make sure to bookmark this page for easier access later on. If you forget this link then reach out to our support team here.
- Log in to the beta site with the private URL. Once you get access to the link, you will log in using the same credentials as your Informant Sync account.
- Give Feedback: Once logged into the site you will see a link to the beta feedback form. If you do not have a Google account then you can give feedback here. The site will also have a link to an info page, which will be where we post the most up-to-date information on the beta site progress and plans. This can be accessed here
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: How do I show my data on the site?
A: Check out the info page here and look under the FAQ tab for the in-depth answer to this question – we have posted instructions on how to do so for iOS, macOS, and Android.
Q: What features does/will the web version have?
A: Initially the web will have Tasks & Projects that are synced with your Informant Sync account. In the coming months, we plan to add additional features based on user feedback.
Q: Do I need an Informant Sync account to use the Web Version?
A: Yes. One of our primary purposes in developing this new web app is to add additional value to the Informant Sync subscription that our premium users are already paying for. We feel like 2020 was a hard enough year for many people, so instead of selling the web version for an additional cost, we want to include it for our valued customers who are already paying for their subscription.
Q: What does this mean for development efforts on other products?
A: We are still working towards improving our other Pocket Informant platforms. iOS is currently starting internal testing for the iOS 14 widgets. We know that it is long overdue, but are very excited to release them to production once they are finished. For Android, we recently released the widget from beta testing, and because of many requests over the years we are continuing the process of doing an overhaul on the UI/UX to better match the iOS version, our most popular version to date. Overall we are working towards more transparency and better communication with our users. We have also started working more closely with legacy users in order to gain a better perspective on how to improve our product overall, and to learn from our previous mistakes. So far this has proven to give us invaluable insight into moving forward with a better Pocket Informant.
We are looking forward to working with you all in this iterative process of building out beta software, and are hopeful that it will help all of you to better manage your busy lives.
