How Does This Differ From Other task Managers?
Proper task management is essential, but it's only part of the picture. Pocket Informant is a full featured PIM, so it lets you focus on everything you do in a day - not just your task list. We believe bringing your appointments and tasks together in one place is more efficient than working in isolated calendar and task management systems. Pocket Informant is designed to not force you into any one method of doing things. For example you can use our Task View as rigidly or freely as you want, using GTD principles, Franklin Covey, or your own system. Pocket Informant also lets you sync your information with popular online services so you can easily access your data with any desktop computer or share it with others.
Why Do I Need This When I Have A Calendar?
We love our iPhone/iPod Touches, but we saw some untapped potential for a full-featured PIM. Pocket Informant fills that gap. To start with, we made navigation very natural - simply swipe between the months, or tap the month name to jump to a new date. You can assign icons to individual events or tasks or use our original TimeBar style to see a visual description of your day, week, or month. When looking at a day’s activities, we show you your appointments and tasks together, and we give you nearly the entire screen to see them. We offer a convenient view to quickly see activities going on "today", and we built a great week view as well.
For years, these and numerous other features have made Pocket Informant a must-have application for school teachers, soccer moms, salesmen and executives alike.
Designed for the iPhone/iPod Touch
Pocket Informant was the first full PIM (personal information management) for Windows Mobile in 2000. We have a long history of creating powerful and easy to use solutions for mobile works. When we set out to design our iPhone/iPod Touch version we sat down and designed an application that iPhone/iPod Touch users could love. To be honest we are Apple fans here - all of our desktops, laptops are Macs; our servers are XServes; some of us have even worked at Apple in the past (recently and from the past)! So we know what Mac OS X users like, expect, and deserve. As such Pocket Informant for the iPhone/iPod Touch is focused on making productivity fun and easy, yet focused.
Tell me about the Sync Today
Pocket Informant for iPhone/iPod Touch syncs with Google Calendar and Toodledo. Google Calendar can act as a direct sync with Outlook and Apple's iCal. Click here to see how to sync with Outlook or iCal. With iOS 4 we now have direct local alarms and soon we will be shipping a version with direct iPhone Calendar access.
Desktop Direct Outlook Sync
WebIS Desktop Sync allows you to sync directly to Outlook from Pocket Informant over a WiFi connection without using any intermediary service such as Google Sync. It works over the WiFi network to connect to your desktop computer and requires firewalls to be configured to allow access from your iPhone.
Desktop Direct Sync with iCal, OmniFocus, etc..
We are working on multiple partnerships with companies to be able to sync directly from Pocket Informant to their respective desktop applications. At this time we have two close commitments that we feel good about. Remember The Milk requires a commercial license for us to develop a sync with and they are not responding to any inquiries. We will be providing more information about these solutions when we are close to releasing the synchronization components.
How does it compare to the Windows Mobile version?
We brought the most-requested features from our BlackBerry and WMobile versions to our first iPhone release. Of course, we spent time making sure to take advantage of the iPhone's unique capabilities in the process. A few of your favorite features may not have made it in this release, so we wanted to offer a glimpse of some things we're planning in the next few future releases on iPhone.
